International Photography Project

Contemporary Photography is storage of information and an effective communicator. Photography creates contemporary vision of the world and simultaneously is a guide of author’s point of view.

The aim of the project «SCO countries – people, countries, nature» is to present the SHOS region as a territory of peace, interpenetration and communication of national cultures, to demonstrate history, traditions, beauty and unicity of the land and its residents with the help of photography.

Project’s objectives are identification of new individuals, provision of information, enlightenment, education and upbringing of all layers of society.

Opening of the Photography Exhibition «SCO countries – people, countries, nature» will be held on the 14th of May, 2009 in Ural State Economic University and is timed to coincide with the beginning of Russian Economic Forum and International Youth Business Game «Model of Shanghai Cooperation Organization - 2039».

For participation in the project photos are accepted:

• that were shot not earlier than 2006 on the territory of SCO countries and/or connected with scope and demonstrating this region in contemporary condition. Creation of new photo topics and interpretations by authors is encouraged;
• that demonstrate life of contemporary society, its citizens, problems and successes in the life of regional society, and its specification;
• that demonstrate interrelationship of society and environment;
• that express personal humanistic position of the photographer;
• that express attitude of the author to history, traditions and regional modernity mentioned in the title of the project in symbolical visual form;
• that demonstrate unique beauty of the regional nature using instruments of contemporary photography and creating new artistic and symbolical character of the region;

Photos for participation in the project are accepted with compulsory indication of full name of the author, address, date of birth, contact numbers, e-mail and postal address.

In portfolio we ask you to include biographical information with specification of creative biography of the author: exhibitions (including personal), places and dates of their holding, dates of publication of the photos in press, authorial description of the works and series (projects).

Following the results of the exhibition the following nominations are awarded:

• «Best author’s series of work»: (I – III places).
• «Best author’s photo»: (I – III places).
• «Audience choice award»

Awarding of other nominations is also possible.

Winners are selected according to the following criteria:

• artistic merits;
• expressiveness;
• moral-spiritual denomination of plot;
• originality of thinking, vision;
• reflection and revelation of subject;
• technical quality of photoprint.

Winners are determined by organizational committee according to the criteria above.

Works are accepted:

in electronic form via e-mail: ftelkov@yandex.ru in JPEG format, size is limited 5 Mb (less than 30 photos);

on discs and printed works – forward the address: Russian Federation, 620144, Ekaterinburg, 8 Маrta, 62, USEU, V. N. Belohonov
